Ames Amzalak Memorial Trust

Ames Amzalak Memorial Trust

The Ames Amzalak Memorial Trust was established through the combination of residuary trusts created under the Wills of three brothers - Henry Ames, Dan Amzalak, and Semon Amzalak, who wanted the residuary of their estates to benefit local charities. The Ames Amzalak Memorial Trust fulfills that wish. Its goal is to improve the quality of life in the Greater Rochester area. Its funding interests are agencies and institutions which are part of the Rochester Jewish Community, other community and non-profit agencies and institutions benefitting children, the handicapped, healthcare and the arts.

The Trust accepts grant applications from tax exempt not-for-profit organizations throughout the year, and typically awards grants in May or June of each year. Well over $9 million dollars have been awarded in grants from the Ames Amzalak Memorial Trust.

Support grants are limited to 501(c)(3) organizations in the Greater Rochester area. Grants are made for capital needs, technology and equipment needs, pilot projects and innovative programs. Support is usually not provided to individuals, for endowments, land acquisition, or for ordinary operating expenses. Typically there is no renewable funding - grants may be payable in a single year of over a period of years.

There is only one annual grant cycle. Applications must be submitted by the end of February. To apply, please complete and submit one of the applications in PDF format to [email protected]. Applications and guidelines are available on website - click on Link to More Info, below.
