How do I submit a job?
Jobs can be submitted through inter-office mail using the Central Duplicating Service form. Additionally, jobs can be submitted electronically as PDFs through e-mail to [email protected]. Please call (585) 349-9074 for details.
What is a PDF?
PDF is a file type that stands for Portable Document Format. In order to create a PDF you can scan to email from some copiers, or use software such as Abode Acrobat (full version) to "print" a PDF from any application you may be working with. A properly prepared document for printing has embedded fonts and hi-resolution graphics (300 dpi).
What types of printing does the Print Shop do?
We print using digital presses (laser print: both full color on a Xerox DocuColor 6060 and b&w on a DocuTech 6135) and offset presses (traditional ink). The DocuColor 6060 produces full color documents under 2000 sets, while the DocuTech 6135 can print collated sets of documents from 2000 impressions and up. Our offset presses can print large 1color, 2 color, and 4 color runs of 10,000 impressions (equivalent to 2,500 copies of an 8 page newsletter) or more. We can also print posters up to 3 x 4 feet.
What paper is available?
We stock 20 lb 8 1/2 x 11 white paper for the DocuTech, 60 lb 11 x 17 white paper for our offset press, and 28 lb 11 x 17 white digital paper for the DocuColor. We also, stock 32 lb white matte coated and 80 lb white gloss coated papers for printing on the DocuColor and offset presses.
In addition to these standard papers we also stock carbonless (NCR 2, 3, 4, and 5-part) paper, #10 white envelopes, 20 lb watermarked letterhead paper, and various colors of text and cover weight paper (e.g. blue, yellow, green, red, pink, lilac). Because we bid the paper for the best price, there may be slight differences in paper color and brightness. If you need a specific paper we can order that for your job.
What types of finishing are available?
We can make booklets (finished sizes of 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, 8 1/2 x 11), portrait and landscape stapled books/packets, double-stapled books, tri-fold or Z-fold brochures, 1/2 fold brochures, spiral bound books, and tape bound books.
Do you offer design services?
Yes, we have designers on staff to assist you in the layout and design of your project.
