Speech and Language Therapy

BOCES 2 Teachers of the Speech & Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) serve students 3 to 21 years of age demonstrating speech-language needs in special education and regular education programs. The TSHH is responsible for identification, treatment and consultation of the speech-language needs, placing a strong emphasis on achieving functional communication for all students.  Speech-Language interventions include, but are not limited to, receptive/expressive language, articulation/phonology, oral motor, fluency, voice, and feeding. Speech-Language interventions are provided in school, day cares, neutral sites and homes. Speech-Language services include:
  • Speech-Language Therapy: BOCES Special Education Programs
    • Speech-Language interventions are provided to students in BOCES 2 Special Education Programs as prescribed on the students' IEP. 
  • Speech-Language Therapy: Contract Service
    • Speech-Language interventions are provided to students in settings other than BOCES 2 Special Education Programs
  • "Under the Direction" (UDO) Program 
    • A NYS Licensed &/or ASHA Certified Speech-Language Pathologist provides "under the direction" service to non-licensed/non ASHA certified TSHH for the purpose of Medicaid reimbursement.
