Welcome to Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Professional Development

The Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Office of Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development works directly with component school districts to develop offerings that align to the New York State Department of Education’s Reform Agenda and district initiatives. In partnership with our districts, we work to support state and district reforms by contracting with a variety of nationally recognized authors and presenters to provide workshops, and then offer follow-up sessions and coaching to assist with implementation.

For example, Dr. Mary Howard, author of RtI from All Sides: What Every Teacher Needs to Know, will conduct a full day workshop that tailors to the needs of our districts. Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES will then present a series of RtI interactive sessions to help teachers and administrators with implementation. Then in November, Charles Fadel, co-author of 21st Century Skills: learning for life in our Times, will facilitate a full day professional development session for our districts. Follow up sessions for 21st Century Learning, showcasing our local instructional leaders, will be developed for winter and spring 2011. We are excited to offer a combination of workshops, follow up sessions, and job embedded professional development to assist our districts in providing targeted, rich instruction for all students.

Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES, recognizing the current economic constraints of our districts, has made every attempt to not increase our per participant fees this year. As your educational partner of choice, we are committed to providing cost effective, high quality services. To ensure that we provide a high quality service, we also made this guide and all of our offerings available electronically, and have a Web presence for easy reference and registration. A link to an electronic survey is also introduced in this guide to get individual feedback about how we can better serve our customers.

True to the Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES vision, we are dedicated to providing services that are innovative, responsive to the needs of our districts, and are of unparalleled excellence. If you have any questions or comments about any of the offerings in The Complete Guide to Professional Development, or if you are looking for something that is not included here, please contact Laurie Streb at (585) 352-2704, or by e-mail at profdev@monroe2boces.org.

Sincerely,
