Mid-West Bilingual/ESL Technical Assistance Center (BETAC) offers a wide range of professional development, technical assistance, and information on the education of English Language Learners (ELLs). Educators in Rochester CSD and the districts in the BOCES regions of Genesee Valley, Greater Southern Tier, Monroe 1, Monroe 2-Orleans, and Wayne-Finger Lakes are encouraged to contact BETAC staff for assistance.
BETAC services include, but are not limited to:

Technical assistance and workshops on state and federal laws, regulations, policies, and funding

Technical assistance on the design and enhancement of educational programs for ELLs

Development and delivery of professional development on instruction and assessment practices that support academic achievement for ELLs

Resource library of professional materials

Email and telephone response to requests for information about mandates, programs, and services to ELLs.

The NYS Mid-West BETAC is funded through a contract from the New York State Education Department, Office of Bilingual Education and Foreign Language Studies, which allows BETAC to provide services at no charge to districts.
