SETRC
The Special Education Training and Resource Center (SETRC) provides technical assistance to districts and schools to assist them to improve achievement for students with disabilities.

The technical assistance and professional development activities of SETRC are now directed to school improvement in three key areas identified as most directly related to effective instructional practices: literacy, behavioral supports and interventions, and quality delivery of special education services.

Each SETRC Professional Development Specialist’s responsibility is to work with identified districts and schools are defined through a regional planning process that includes the Special Education Quality Assurance (SEQA) Regional Supervisor and Regional Associates, the Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) District Superintendent or Big Five City Superintendent, the SETRC Project Director and SETRC Professional Development Specialist’s. The regional planning process results in an Office of Vocational and Educational Service for individuals with Disabilities (VESID) Regional Work plan.

Monroe 2–Orleans BOCES SETRC has a lending library housing materials on a variety of topics related to disabilities, IDEA, instruction, and behavioral management.

Contact Kathy Rumery at 352-2443 for more information regarding the SETRC offerings.
