Ridgecrest Academy gives thanks

On the morning before Thanksgiving break, many of the students at Ridgecrest Academy participated in the school’s annual Turkey Trot run. Others worked with teachers to create a holiday atmosphere and prepare for a very special Thanksgiving luncheon. This is the fifth year that Ridgecrest Academy has hosted the traditional Thanksgiving feast, complete with turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie.

As noon approached, a hungry crowd of runners, students, teachers and visitors lined up for lunch. Volunteer student food servers kept things moving smoothly and professionally. It felt like family, as attendees happily helped one another fill their plates with great food.

“Eating and celebrating together creates community,” said Special Education Supervisor Robert Nells. “Community is what makes Ridgecrest Academy such special place to learn.”
