Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES News Article

School Safety Message and Resources

As our nation continues to mourn the victims of the Parkland, Florida tragedy, we at Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES keep the victims and their families in our thoughts. Our BOCES focuses on our students, and as students return to classes following mid-winter recess, teachers and staff will be listening to their concerns and providing guidance to them as they express themselves in the wake of this incident.

Counselors, teachers and support staff stand ready to offer any assistance students may need during this challenging time. We also encourage parents to talk with their children to help them cope with this news. In the link at the bottom of this message, resources are available to assist with these conversations.

We continue to be vigilant about our safety and security plans for students, staff and visitors to BOCES 2. We collaborate with our component district partners and area law enforcement to provide safe, thriving educational environments. This focus on safety will continue to be foremost in our minds as we discuss with students any plans they have in the coming days and weeks to participate in demonstrations of support for victims of violence.
