This professional development session will be highly interactive and include opportunities for participants to engage in practical strategies, discuss ideas, and reflect on their own teaching. They will have the opportunity to work independently and with colleagues to intentionally plan for their own context. We will provide a Padlet of resources that will be accessible to teachers during and after the PD session. Participants will learn about the importance of teaching academic language and supporting language development for ELLs. They will examine engagement and participation strategies as well as exploring academic language at the sentence and discourse levels. Participants will learn how to best apply research-based methods to support ELLs' academic and oral language development with connection to understanding content in schools.
