Updated NYSED Regulations
- There
is a new testing accommodation for English Language Learners/Multilingual
Learners (ELL/MLLs) taking Regents Examinations. Principals may now
approve Next-Day Completion of a Regents Examination for an ELL/MLL or former
ELL/MLL who has been granted the accommodation of extended time and is
scheduled to take two Regents Examinations on the same day. This new accommodation, referred to as Next-Day Completion, will be available beginning with the January 2019 Regents Examination period. For more information, view: http://www.p12.nysed.gov/assessment/hsgen/nextdaycompletionaccom.pdf
- The Board of Regents amended section 154-2.3(i) of the Commissioner’s regulations to allow school districts enrolling fewer than 30 English language learners (ELLs) to apply for a one-year renewable waiver to expand the maximum allowable grade span for English as a New Language (ENL) and Bilingual Education (BE) classes from two to three contiguous grades: http://www.regents.nysed.gov/common/regents/files/1118p12a3.pdf
