CTE celebrates SkillsUSA Week

SkillUSA Week 2025

Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Career and Technical Education is joining others nationwide in celebrating SkillsUSA Week, Feb. 2-8, 2025. The week highlights the value of CTE in preparing students for high-demand careers through applied learning, industry partnerships and leadership development.

Throughout the week, students will showcase how CTE equips them with personal, workplace and technical skills grounded in academics. One of the key activities planned is Give Back Day on Feb. 4, when SkillsUSA officers will visit the Spencerport Fire Department to present donations collected for the department’s 86 volunteer firefighters. This initiative reflects BOCES 2 CTE’s commitment to community engagement and service.

“The activities planned will illustrate the rigor and relevance CTE courses offer our students,” said Jennifer Probst, SkillsUSA Lead Advisor at BOCES 2 CTE. “By partnering with the business community, our programs ensure students gain the latest technology, certifications and skills needed to become successful employees and future leaders.”

SkillsUSA Week is held during Career and Technical Education Month and includes a variety of activities that connect students with business leaders, educators and the community. Across the country, students will participate in presentations, community service projects, media interviews and industry networking events, all reinforcing the role of CTE in workforce development.

SkillsUSA is a national organization that supports more than 380,000 students in career and technical education by providing training in leadership, workplace readiness and technical skills.
