Summer Fun Around Our Classrooms

PUSH workshop at Ridgecrest Academy

Students in our Extended School Year Program (ESYP) had a blast this summer with special activities, fun learning experiences and making new friends.

- PUSH Physical Theatre’s Heather Stevenson visited many BOCES 2 classrooms and worked with students across the age and ability spectrum, inspiring them to explore creative movement and to express themselves.
- In teacher Chris Kneller’s classes, students researched dream vacations, planning practical budgets and scheduling favorite places to visit. Destinations ranged from the exotic – St. Lucia – and exciting – Las Vegas – to faraway capitals of culture, like Tokyo and South Korea. Travel dreams were enthusiastically shared in a friendly public speaking exercise.
- Spirit Week was in full swing at the Exceptional Children Learning Center, with activities like Tie Dye Day and Sports Day. Our ESYP team even made it possible for students to visit a virtual tropical island on Hawaiian Day, complete with volcanoes (made with lemons, baking soda and vinegar) and the Limbo Dance!
- Other activities around the ESYP world included art projects, learning about maple syrup and celebrating Watermelon Day!

We couldn’t have done it all for kids without our amazing and dedicated teachers, aides and professional staff – thank you for making 2022’s ESYP a success!
