Dear Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Community,
I hope this message finds you well. As you have likely heard, Governor Andrew Cuomo recently announced that all New York State schools will be able to reopen in September.
Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES submitted its reopening plan to both the New York State Education Department and Department of Health. It was also posted on our website on July 31. We would like to thank you and your fellow community members for the feedback you provided via the July online survey. Your input helped to inform the plan that was developed and submitted.
On August 7, Governor Cuomo directed schools and BOCES to conduct three forums with parents to address your questions.
BOCES 2 will be conducting three virtual information forums with parents to address their questions about our reopening plan:
- Thursday, August 13 from noon to 1 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 18 from 9 to 10 a.m.
- Thursday, August 20 from 6 to 7 p.m.
We ask participants to pre-register for one of these sessions by clicking on this link in order to accommodate the number of people who want to participate.
You will be given an opportunity to submit one or two questions that will help guide our discussion. Upon registering, you will receive an email with a link to participate in your requested session. If you are unable to attend one of the forums, but would like to ask a question, you can email or call the BOCES 2 COVID Coordinator at [email protected] or 585-352-2430, or submit your question through our website by clicking on this link.
The Governor is also requiring all districts to highlight the following portions of their reopening plans on their websites:
- remote instruction and any equity issues related to this type of instruction
- the district’s plans regarding COVID-19 testing for both students and teachers
- the district’s plans regarding contact tracing
As we move forward, more details will be posted on these aspects of the plan. Pandemic conditions may necessitate changes to the plan and we will keep our community informed.
