CTE Receives Gene Haas Foundation Grant

A $7,500 grant was presented to Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES CTE’s machining program from the Gene Haas Foundation. The foundation provides support for manufacturing training programs throughout North America and beyond. CTE at WEMOCO will use these funds for scholarships and dual enrollment college tuition.

With the grant check are, standing from left to right, Executive Principal Jill Slavny, Machining teacher Randy Pearl, and senior students Lucas Preston (Churchville-Chili), Jeremy Goodison (Spencerport), Liam McElwain (Spencerport), Nicholas VanGelder (Brockport), Dylan Peet (Churchville-Chili), Connor Carlin (Wheatland-Chili), Josh Wood (Brockport), and in front, left-right, Paxton Holberton (Greece Olympia), and Dakota Burnside (Brockport).

BOCES 2 machining students are prepared for one of the most in-demand careers in the Finger Lakes region. While enrolled in high school, the students participate in co-op work opportunities to gain experience in professional machine shops.
