Event Groups:
• Communication and Technology Services - Communication and Technology Services Events
Description:
In this session, participants will develop an understanding of how to include home language supports in content area instruction. Included in this training, participants will receive access to short webinettes created by content area teachers and ENL teachers, to help engage ELLs in the content areas. Webinettes will be shared in Science and Math, and additional webinettes will be coming in ELA and in Social Studies. The webinettes are delivered in simplified English, plus 10 additional languages. The webinettes can be used with students, both in remote learning and in hybrid learning environments, can be used with parents to support their children at home, and can also be used in in-person classes to help ELLs build foundational skills and knowledge. Approximately one day prior to the session, participants registered will receive a Zoom link for the training. As a result of participating in this session, teachers will have a deeper understanding of how to support their ELLs using home language without seeking fully translated texts and/or lessons.
