Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES has selected Shawna Gareau-Kurtz as the new Director of the Center for Workforce Development. She succeeds Tom Schulte, who was recently promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Programs for Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES.
Of her new role, Gareau-Kurtz said, “I look forward to continued growth in The Center for Workforce Development, building on our current academic, literacy and technical program offerings.”
She is a graduate of SUNY Oswego with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Teacher Education and Master’s Degree in Education. She earned her Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from SUNY Brockport.
Gareau-Kurtz has held several positions during her more than two decades-long tenure at Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES. She most recently served as Assistant Principal, a position she has held since 2013. She previously worked as an Instructional Specialist, an Academic Support Teacher, and a Business Education Teacher.
She added, “Helping people build skills, better themselves and find employment that contributes to our workforce needs energizes me. I am excited to continue this work with our adult population.”
Her appointment as Director of CWD was effective February 1.
