Child and Family Development donates to local church
Church picking up donation
The Child and Family Development senior class is putting together care packages for a new community outreach program at Anchor Christian Church.

The program helps foster children removed from their homes and placed in emergency safe homes.

The Child and Family Development class was able to help by putting together care packages of socks, underwear, clothing and personal hygiene items. The packages will be available to children needing to be removed from their homes and placed in foster care.

“[Our] primary goal is to help kids removed from their homes and placed in foster care with all of the necessities they need for the first 2-3 days,” said founder Melissa Siena of Anchor Christian Church. “We are so thankful for your willingness to donate so many things to help Ray of Light get started!”

All the donated items were collected during our annual WEMOCO/CTE Fundraiser in November. The theme of the fundraiser was “unmentionables,” with the class collecting new socks, underwear, bras, boxers, and personal hygiene items. They also collected gently used clothes.

The donations have helped support CTE’s Breakfast with Santa for the Liberty Life program, holiday connections, and other community outreach programs. The class was also able to use the donations to help the Holley families that lost everything in apartment fires.
