CTE classes collaborate on Halloween project for St. Peter’s Kitchen

WEMOCO’s partnership with St. Peter’s Kitchen, a soup kitchen in Rochester, continues to spread joy. Career and Technical Education classes at WEMOCO worked together to provide Halloween treats for St. Peter’s Kitchen staff to distribute to its guests.

Child and Family Development classes decorated 150 paper bags and delivered them to the Personal Services class to fill with candy. Baking classes made and frosted 150 pumpkin-shaped cookies, which were also delivered to Personal Services for students to package. The treats were delivered to St. Peter’s Kitchen on October 29.

St. Peter’s provides those in need with hot lunches, access to a food pantry, holiday meals, emergency services and more.  WEMOCO has partnered with St. Peter’s for its meal program assisted by our Culinary program and Valentine and Halloween community service projects through cross-program collaboration. WEMOCO students can earn work-based learning hours for community service when it’s relevant to their program.

“I am excited to use the skills I am learning in the Baking program to make something for others, “said Caitlin O’Hara, a student in the Baking program from Spencerport CSD. “I feel it in my heart that we are helping people who need a boost in life or need a little comfort.”
