This professional development opportunity is for teachers who are looking for additional ways to engage their ELLs/ MLs (English Language Learners/Multilingual Learners). This workshop will support inclusive and dynamic teachers who are looking for more interactive ways to engage all students. In this hands-on workshop, participants will practice useful creative strategies and methods that can be adapted for all learners. Teachers will leave with a toolkit of fun, ready to use songs, chants, movements, and games that support K-6 multilingual students in their language acquisition and translanguaging experiences. All teachers are welcome, whether they cannot carry a tune in a bucket or are former professional opera singers. Be prepared to have some fun! About the specialists: Nicole Bell always knew she wanted to be a teacher, but before she followed her love of languages, she used her undergraduate degree in music education to teach music to a variety of grade levels in the general music classroom. This workshop is an opportunity for her to combine worlds to share her musical passions with you. Cori Smith's first teaching experience was teaching dance at the studio where she studied. She enjoys many types of dance and likes to incorporate movement into teaching whenever possible. Cori is always looking for ways to promote movement and is known for creating chants and songs to help her ELLs remember content.
