NYS Water Testing

July 14, 2021 Water Testing Results

To protect public health, the Public Health Law and New York State Health Department (NYS DOH) regulations require that all public school districts and BOCES test lead levels in water from every outlet that is being used, or could potentially be used, for drinking or cooking. If lead is found at any water outlet at levels above 15.0 parts per billion (ppb), which is equal to 15.0 micrograms per deciliter (mcg/dl), the NYSDOH requires that the district take action to reduce the level of lead.

We recently conducted a second round of water testing in July ’21 (original round was conducted in March 2016). 93 faucets or fountains were tested and none showed lead levels above the EPA’s 15 parts per billion (ppb), which is the threshold for school districts. The general public threshold is 20 ppb.
