Career Readiness Classes

Community and Career Readiness

Community and Career Readiness class emphasizes life skills and self-advocacy. It is designed to target individual skill deficit areas, helping students grow as contributing members of society. The program focuses on self-management and daily living, community navigation and safety awareness, along with socializing and having fun with others.

Community and Transition Readiness & Professional and Technical Prep

Community and Transition Readiness (located at Rochester Tech Park) and Professional and Technical Prep (located on the BOCES 2 Westview campus) are Career and Technical Education-based (CTE) programs that use a co-teaching model with a special education teacher and CTE teacher. This helps students gain a deeper understanding of transferrable life skills that promote success at work. These programs also feature authentic work experiences so students can develop technical skills. For example, students in Professional and Technical Prep complete work in the fields of building maintenance and carpentry. Both programs expose students to different career options and help prepare them for entry into CTE classes at WEMOCO, the Work-Based Learning program, or jobs in the community.
