Special Education Programs

Many Programs Tailored to Individual Learning Needs

The Special Education division provides programs and services to students 3 to 22 years of age who are referred by the Committee on Special Education or the Committee on Preschool Education of their local school district. The student's program is tailored to meet his/her unique learning needs as outlined in the Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Students are educated in the least restrictive educational environment such as general, integrated, or self-contained classroom environments. Support services (i.e., occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech-language therapy, nursing, etc.) may be provided in conjunction with a BOCES 2 special education classroom or as a stand-alone service as per the student's IEP. The Special Education Staff collaborates with parents, districts, agencies and the community at large as educational partners in an effort to maximize progress in academic, language, social, management and physical areas.

Districts requesting support services evaluations or initial service, should please initiate an 89F form, available below.
