Pupils with Disabilities - What is PD SIRS Reporting?

PD data is the special education data that is contained in a student's IEP (Individualized Education Program). Districts are required by NYS to report specific data to fulfill both NYSED and federal reporting requirements and is used to provide a comprehensive view of the state's performance in various sectors at specific points in time.
Most special education data is reported through the Student Information Repository System (SIRS) and published in the PD Data System in the form of verification reports (VR).
There are two distinct reporting and certification periods in a year that require the movement of data through SIRS:

- •The October Snapshot collection (also known as the BEDS Day Snapshot) captures data that occurred on BEDS day (always the first Wednesday of October)
- •The Year-End collection (also known as the End of Year) captures data that has occurred throughout the school year
Certification of the special education data contained in the VR reports occurs in January, August, and September. The data is certified by the Special Education Director or SEDDAS entitled user.
