Camp Culinary: July 12-16

Are you a budding chef with a passion for food? Then our Camp Culinary is this summer’s perfect choice for a fun and tasty hands-on experience! In this one-week intro to the culinary arts, campers will prepare a variety of menu items in a professional kitchen, building up to a meal served to guests for the finale. The camp will introduce you to cooking techniques, proper handling of kitchen tools, industry-standard food safety and sanitation, and safe operation of kitchen equipment. Careers in the hospitality industry will also be explored. Sign up today as spots are limited!

Baking Bootcamp (Sweets): July 19-23

Young foodies with a sweet tooth will enjoy this one-week express camp offering hands-on experience making cookies, cakes with butter cream icing, and more! Campers will be provided with tried-and-true recipes that you’ll practice in a state-of-the-art professional kitchen. You’ll also learn how to transform your home kitchen into a bakeshop when you learn safe food handling techniques, proper kitchen equipment operation, the differences in volume and weight measurement, and how to convert recipes. The camp instructor has 50 years of experience and is eager to teach what he loves!

Baking Bootcamp (Savory): July 26-30

Whether complimenting other foods or serving as the main dish, savory baked goods like breads and pizzas are the stars of many meals. Learn how to prepare these items from scratch in this one-week bakery camp. Hands-on experience will be gained through tried-and-true recipes in a state-of-the-art professional kitchen. Crucial information including safe food handling, kitchen equipment instruction, the differences in volume and weight measurement, and how to convert recipes will be covered – all needed to continue baking at home.

Spencerport Junior Fire Academy: July 12-16

Join the men and women of the Spencerport Volunteer Fire Department for a week of training, team building, and fun! Campers will participate in real, hands-on training from EMS to fighting fire, and meet professionals from all parts of the fire service. Training will occur at WEMOCO and Spencerport Fire Department Station 3. Please wear jeans, closed-toed shoes or work boots, and bring a water bottle every day because we will be active for most of the time!

Snapshots of Summer: July 19-23

Don't just take photos - make them! In this photography-based course, campers will learn how to compose a picture using rules of composition and elements of photography. Campers will put their skills to use with DSLR cameras and make basic edits in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom. Campers will have digital and physical photographs for their portfolios upon completion of the course.

Red Carpet - Hair & Nails: July 26-30

Braiding hair
Style like a pro: Campers will learn basic braiding techniques - visible, invisible, fishtail and waterfall braids. We will practice using professional heat styling tools (marcel curling irons) and creating different curls (spiral curls and beach waves).
Nail Art Freestyle: Campers will learn basic nail art and shaping techniques. Campers will select a theme to create a nail art set (10 nails) and will practice nail art techniques and create a set that matches their selected theme.

Market & Pitch: August 2-6

Planning out a campaign
Campers have a crash course in the graphic design and marketing strategy process to create and promote a fictional product/service ending with a TV-style pitch. Campers will utilize industry-aligned software to create digital and physical collateral for their pitch to industry representatives, and will leave camp with their own digital portfolio!

Creativity in Motion: July 26-30

Videos are merely creative ideas in motion. Campers will learn the basics of video production with the end goal of creating a commercial, and use industry-aligned equipment to record and edit video for their commercial. Upon completion of the course, campers will have digital portfolio items.

Camp "Hammer"- head: July 19-23

Campers will be introduced to the fun of carpentry design and building. While "sharpening" their skills of measuring, cutting, building and finishing, campers will walk away with his or her own project to take home as a replica and reminder of the experience.
