Machining Fundamentals: 2024-25

This part-time Machining program prepares you for a career in the Machining industry in only 18 weeks. Using the "learn while you earn" model, our evening course will cover topics such as blueprint reading, machine shop math, drilling, tapping, and reaming. Receive your industry recognized OSHA-10 card and gain experience operating the Lathe, Mill, and basics of CNC Machining. The program also provides a hybrid learning model that blends skill-building in the machine lab with remote learning hours that can count toward an apprenticeship. This course was created to enable you to maintain employment during that day while completing this program. You will get the opportunity to see if machining is the right fit for you, receive training in the essential aspects of the occupation, open doors with local employers, and build connections that will set you on a pathway for a successful career.

Class Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:30pm - 8:30pm

Program Length: 108 hours of in person instruction + 72 hours of online work = 180 hours; 18 weeks

Dress Code: Long pants are required. Jeans are acceptable. Wear clothing that can get dirty. No baggy clothing. Sneakers or Boots must be worn. No open toed or heeled (above ½ inch) shoes. Tops must cover the torso (shoulders, waistline, and chest). No dangling earrings, chains, bracelets, or necklaces. Hair tied back and trimmed nails. Clothing with offensive or inappropriate language is not allowed. Safety goggles are provided and required.

OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) 10-hour training will help educate workers to predict, prevent, identify and stop possible common worksite hazards, and is required for many industry careers,
