A party for people who love books

Monroe One and BOCES 2 School Library Systems are throwing a “party” for school librarians this year. So far, 45 local librarians have signed up for our Book Party group to earn professional development credits by doing what they love most – reading books. In just two months, they’ve read and reviewed more than 70 recently published books for kids of all ages. Their thoughtful, detailed reviews will be shared with peers and used as guidance for building their own library collections.

Book Party is open all year and librarians can jump in any time. There will be an optional gathering in June for a chance to meet and talk about – what else? – books. BOCES 2 is putting the reviews to good use too as we choose exciting new titles to add to our own Sora online library.

“I love how participating in the Book Party encourages me to seek out newer titles,” said one school librarian. “It sometimes feels overwhelming trying to keep up with the amazing titles coming out left and right, but this experience is helping me to find the next great read to share with my students!”

The best thing about Book Party is that it is just all about pure book joy – reconnecting our librarians with why they wanted to be a librarian in the first place.
