BOCES 2 preschool teacher Stephanie Sekaz and her class incubated duck eggs as part of their unit on babies and transformation. Students candled the eggs and watched the ducklings grow - even seeing their hearts beating inside the eggs! The actual hatching was caught on video for the students to watch. Now the class is learning how to take care of ducklings and handle them carefully as they are so little. They are even giving the babies swimming lessons - with lots of supervision until their legs grow strong! It's been a great way to learn about growth and life cycle - and YES, the baby ducks already have good homes to go to.
